Happy National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)!
I am proud to say I am participating this year in trying to accomplish writing
a novel of 50,000 words. The goal is to have a completed manuscript by the end
of the month. This is by far not an easy task. Luckily, I have a lot of writing
material, but putting it together takes work. I have a long way to go with only
over 6,000 words down so far. One thing I like about this event is the support
you can receive from other writers both online and off. They have several write
ins where participants can meet up to work on their masterpiece. I look forward
to attending to some of them.
So what am I writing about?
I am writing a book about
reflection with a touch of inspiration. I want my book to be unique and not a
"how to" type of read. I will not write or claim that if you listen
to what I say you will feel better. I am not a psychologist nor am I a wisdom-filled
guru that can promise good fortune. *smile* This is a book that tells my story
with a twist. I will share how reflection has helped me get through life's
trials and tribulations. I hope for it to be inspiring and heartfelt. One thing
I can guarantee is it will be colorful. I am a colorful person.
For me, this experience is not
about being competitive or being a bestseller novelist. Writing a book is a
personal goal I've had for years. It's exciting to be my own cheerleader in
making my dream a reality. All I want is to have an ISBN number. Once I receive
that, I know I am a published author and I will be so proud!
Here's to being a writer who
writes!
How exciting, Dara! I'm wishing you the best of luck on your path to writing a book. It sounds like you are well on your way with 6000 out of the 50000 words and you wrote this on Nov 4, no less. Very impressive! And whether or not you finish your book or the required number of words by the end of the month, the mere fact that you will have written at least a good portion of it will be a wonderful achievement and mean that you are well on your way! In other words, either way, it's a win-win :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your support and kindness Dorlee! I greatly appreciate it :)
