9/11: the poem

With the upcoming 10th anniversary of 9/11, I feel moved to write about it, feel it, re-experience the day that changed many lives, including mine. I wrote a poem simply titled "9/11" that describes September 11, 2001 through my eyes, from my heart. Remember to remember.

9/11

Souls cry loud
Empty space left
Painful silence felt
Tragedy’s dark cloud
Erratic state
Mirrors of hate
Black clouds grow
Emotional overflow
Reality’s impact

Endless wonder
Love for another
Evoking patriotism
Values and optimism
Eleven
Never forget
The people, the sacrifice
Honor everyday

2001
Remember

  2. As a survivor of that tragic day, I must say that I don't think I will ever forget what happened that day and all the souls were lost. The mention of 911 makes me sad and my eyes fill up with tears.
